INTRODUCTION AND A BRIEF HISTORY
The Yenko Stinger archives are intended to provide a central source of information on Yenko Stinger Corvairs. NOTE: The drivetrain codes below represent how the Corvairs were originally ordered, based on information to date. Stage II & Stage III cars could have been delivered with different engine numbers or axle ratios than shown below.
The 3.89 Ring & Pinion COPO option was ordered on 50 of the 1966 Stingers, and on all 1967 Stingers. It is believed the the first 50 1966 cars scheduled for production (By Body Number) received the 3.55 gears, while the remaining 50 received the 3.89 gears.
This would mean that Fisher Body Numbers higher than approximately 2750 on the 1966 cars would have been ordered with 3.89 gears. Remember that what was factory-ordered and what was ultimately sold could vary.
Asterisks indicate that research is still being conducted to verify the particular option on car.
NEW VERIFICATION PROCESS
We have added the 4 digit Chevrolet Order Number (shown on the trim tag) on the Stingers that have supplied this information. Our goal is to verify this number on all known cars on the list.
This new program is part of our ongoing goal to provide information in the Registry as accurately as possible.

CANADIAN STINGERS
City Chevrolet became the Canadian distributorship for Yenko starting in 1966. The Corvairs were initially ordered directly by City due to excessive shipping costs if they had come from the U.S.
They did not include the COPO option(s).
It appears that at one time, three 1966 Stingers were at City Chevrolet, including a Stage I, Stage II, and Mo Carter's Race Car.

Car was extensively raced throughout the West coast and New Mexico over 30 years. This Dana was pictured and written about in Bill Fisher's 1969 edition of HOW TO HOT ROD CORVAIR ENGINES. Kasey has recently road raced, auto crossed, and drag raced his Dana. Kasey said: "The Dana never won, but never the less...being last, I still had a blast"!
The Dana and Kasey have been interviewed by "Big Daddy" Don Garlis on ESPN, and the car was featured on SPIKE TV's Muscle Car Show.. It has been in 8 national car magazines.
