Bill Sander's SCCA Racer
Ed, within the past couple of days Bob Dunahugh had posted on the Virtual Vairs forum information that
Yenkostinger.org would take pictures of "Stingers" that may not have YS numbers, such as Rick Norris'
blue racer. I am sending an couple of attachments one of which is a car that I have owned for the past 5
years. It was built by Tom and Patti Piantanida and raced in the S.F. Region of the SCCA from 1980 thru
1987. It subsequently was purchased by Charlie Yarborough and went to Southern California. It apparently
was passed around through several owners ending up with Jeff Ballard. The blue and white paint scheme
was what it looked like when I got it. Tom came to my home the year after I acquired the car and verified the
authenticity of the vehicle. The log books did not survive the many transfers of ownership. It was a roller
with only the body work and rollcage installed. The cage did have the SF SCCA serial stamping. I have
just about finished putting it back together as a late 1970's early 1980's D/P or GT 3 race car and will one day be able to have photos in its new colors.
